November 28

We hope everyone had an excellent Thanksgiving holiday!

Monday and Tuesday is hall decorating, where Seniors decorate the first floor, Juniors decorate the second floor, Sophomores decorate the third floor and Freshmen decorate the fourth floor. This is an old East tradition that student council brought back last year. The teachers vote on who has the best decorated floor, and whoever does gets a) a fun pizza party and b) bragging rights. Please bring in items to decorate the halls (ie wrapping paper, streamers, images) and label your things if you want to get them returned. We will be decorating after school on Monday and Tuesday.

THIS FRIDAY is the Winter Dance: A Journey Through Time. Tickets are $4 ahead of time, and $5 on the day of. No tickets will be sold at the door, and no guests are allowed. The theme is meant to be a change of pace from other dances we have done. This dance should be different and fun. Purchase tickets in Room 100.

Have you used the bathrooms in EHS lately? Well, you have two things to cheer about. First, due to the passage of the municipal bond issue for Denver county, East is getting its bathrooms redone! This should be completed over the summer, before classes commence for next year. And second, Student Council is pleased to launch the new Toilet Paper, a monthly paper detailing what is happening around the school. Please check it out during you next trip to the restrooms, and remember, they will be a lot nicer next school year.

Good luck to the instrumental music program, as they record their annual CD this week at CEC. For more info, or to purchase a CD, contact Mr Keith Oxman in Room 350. Also, congrats on two fabulous concerts.

Way to go Chemistry classes, as they are visiting elementary schools this week such as Bill Roberts and Cory, to perform a Cool Chemistry Show.

Congrats to the following students who successfully auditioned for the 2008-09 Colorado All State Choir: Ben Brady, Clay Burns, Bella Campana, Zamir Hall, Ariel Kelly, Daniel Simmons, and David Steninger.

Also Congratulations to Ben Brady and David Steninger who successfully auditioned for the Colorado All State Jazz Choir!

Good luck Class of 2012 student council candidates, as elections are THIS THURSDAY, the 4th.

Also, nice job speech team on a successful trip to Chicago.

Thank you to Green Club, for organizing a great movie screening, to Food Club, for getting massive participation in the Thanksgiving lunch potluck, to No Place For Hate, for pulling off a large Mix It Up Day, and of course to Black Students United, for once again conducting a massive food drive. Please bring in food to Room 222.

GREEN CLUB PRESENTS Paul Tourangeau, Director Air Pollution Control Division Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment Thursday, December 4, 11:15-12:00, Room 321. Topic: Air quality in Colorado with an emphasis on ozone compliance.

Thanks to Mr Toaspern for speaking to the AP Human Geography classes.

BATTLE OF THE BANDS WINNERS!
FIRST PLACE: THE ZED WORD $150
SECOND PLACE: BACKGROUND NOISE $100
THIRD PLACE: THE PANIC $50
THIS WAS THE BEST BATTLE EVER! EIGHT GREAT BANDS!

We will be having a Students for Obama/Young Democrats meeting at lunch on Thursday in room 326 to celebrate our victory, take our yearbook photo, and discuss what the club will do in the future. This meeting is MANDATORY and shouldn't take all of lunch. Thank you for all of your hard work and see you Thursday!
